Our parent supervised Junior Sailing group re-starts Saturday afternoon 27th April 2019.
The aim of Juniors is to introduce youngsters to sailing and, with parents, enhance sailing skills and have fun. All juniors have opportunities to progress in skill to club racing through the Juniors fleet of boats, including Optimists, Toppers, Picos and high performance Fevas. Any young person who is already a member of Littleton Sailing Club or Littleton Lake Sailing Club via family can join Juniors sailing sessions. There is a contribution towards maintenance of the Juniors fleet of £60 for the season.

6th April sees the first of our personal handicap pursuit races. Handicaps and a guide for competitors will be placed on the desk in the foyer as soon as possible after the new PY numbers are released by the RYA. The boat class start numbers for the 14:00 Personal Handicap Pursuit race will differ from the numbers used for the Twilight pursuit because the race is a slightly different length and because the Twilight starts 15 minutes past the hour. To obtain your start time you take your boat class start time and add your new personal handicap to that number. That gives your start time in minutes. When the 5-4-1-0 race start sequence is completed, 00 will be displayed and the numbers will count up every minute. You start when your number is displayed and the hooter sounds. Note that a negative start time means that you will be starting during the start sequence (before the 00 is displayed). Personal handicaps will be adjusted every week, so you need to check your start time every race.
Racing should be very close and everyone should have a chance to win!

Littleton Sailing Club has been awarded the title of Spelthorne Sports Club of the Year! This annual award was presented to the Club by Spelthorne Council in recognition for outstanding activities in sports. The 2018 Spelthorne Sports Awards ceremony which took place on 9th October at Shepperton Studios, saw 10 awards given out in all. In the past we have been successful in other categories but this is the first time the Club has won the overall award for best sports club. This is very much a shared award and demonstrates how passionate we are as a group about our sailing and our club.
At the event, attended by a delegation of our committee members, we were treated to a speech from Debbie Flood, double Olympic silver medalist in rowing on the power of persistence, and how, by continuing with your aims along with commitment and dedication high levels can be achieved.
At the ceremony club member Jo Lloyd also won the award of Volunteer of the Year for her dedication to duty co-ordination, an award richly deserved. With 150 clubs in the borough, these awards are prestigious and along with the others won on previous occasions confirms that Littleton is a really active and great club to be part of. Well done Team Littleton!
