Littleton works hard to turn young sailors into young leaders and we believe there is magic in young people assisting in teaching their peers. Many of our teens have achieved the RYA Assistant Instructor standard, supporting our coaching and training, and several have progressed into sailing & watersports professionally.
This can meet some of the requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh award (DofE), please see our guidance here, as well as developing young people’s confidence to lead and present ideas to others.
Parent or Guardian Supporters
The involvement of parents and guardians is crucial to the success of Youth Sailing at Littleton and is actively encouraged. There are many opportunities to get involved from helping with rigging and launching boats, to assisting and coaching or helping to run social events. It’s a great chance for parents to learn more about sailing themselves, even for those who are totally new to the sport.
