LSC Open Day – Sat May 18 2024

Have you thought about trying dinghy sailing or getting back into it? If you are wondering what it is like or if you would like to join our club, then this is your chance. Come and experience our hospitality and facilities and get out on the water for a first-hand experience on our lovely inland lake. All visitors are welcome on Saturday 18 May, 11am-4pm. Free entry, tickets only required for tasters.

Bookable tasters at our Open Day

  • Adult & Family Sailing Taster
Set sail in one of our multi-person training boats, with an experienced club sailor at the helm. Your experienced helm will show you the ropes and even let you take the helm if the weather is suitable. Parents and their children will be paired together in a boat for a family taster sail to help you start a new family activity.
  • Youth Sailing Taster
If your 6-18 year old is keen to try sailing and see what it’s like to take part in the junior sailing programme, we have experienced juniors available to take your child out on an RS Feva if the conditions are suitable. Children who prefer to sail with a parent/guardian in a boat with an experienced helm should book a Family Taster ticket rather than a Youth Taster.
  • Windsurfing Taster
Get a 1:1 introduction to windsurfing on our dry land simulator, followed by an on water session to put the tuition into practice.

On The Day

Please arrive promptly for your scheduled slot and bring your ticket confirmation with you – either on your mobile device or printed. One ticket required per guest. Late arrivals cannot be guaranteed to go afloat

You are welcome before and after your taster sail slot to enjoy lunch from the galley (did someone say bacon? cake?), beers and prosecco from the bar, and soak up the friendly club atmosphere.

Guests are welcome to bring paddleboards and windsurfers and enjoy a paddle or windsurf on the lake – within reasonable abilities and dependent on wind speeds. Littleton Sailing Club’s SUP equipment will also be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Appropriate safety equipment required at all times.

Learn to Sail
If you decide you would like to learn to sail then the club offers RYA Level 1&2 adult training courses during the year.

FAQs

Sailing taster

Wear suitable warm clothing, waterproof trousers and top, and trainers. Should you have a wetsuit and neoprene boots then that would also be an option, though certainly not essential. Buoyancy aids will be worn whilst on the water, so if you have one bring it with you, otherwise we will provide you with one on the day. Bring a change of clothes and a towel just in case you get wet. We have hot showers if you should need to warm up after your sail.

Windsurfing taster

Bring a wetsuit, plus neoprene boots if you have them. The club does not provide wetsuits. Buoyancy aids must be worn whilst near and on the water. We will provide you with one if you don’t have your own. There are hot showers so bring a towel and change of clothing.

Feel free to email us any questions using the contact form.

The best way of getting to the club is by car. There is plenty of parking on site. Alternatively the nearest train station is Shepperton. We would recommend you take a taxi/bicycle from the station to the club. Otherwise it is a healthy 35-minute walk.

Guests coming for taster sails or paddleboarding must be water confident and be able to swim at least 25m (using a buoyancy aid if necessary).
